Women of Veteran Affairs, Incorporated, was founded by Linda Hugley, a Fort Lauderdale native and the 6th of 16 children. She began her education in Broward County and attended Broward Community College before joining the U.S. Army in 1979. There, she trained as an Army Telecommunications Center Specialist and earned FBI clearance to work in military intelligence. In this role, she supported frontline soldiers and delivered critical messages to leadership. After leaving the military in 1982, Linda continued her commitment to service as a Juvenile Correction Officer, Pre-School Teacher, and Armed School Safety Officer, making a lasting impact on her community.
Driven by her passion to serve and protect, Linda joined the National Council of Negro Women. She later founded The Women of Veteran Affairs, Inc. (WOVA), where she now serves as CEO. Under her leadership, WOVA works to improve the lives of veterans and their families by providing education, resources, and counseling. The organization’s mission is to honor veterans’ dignity and enhance their opportunities, breaking barriers and building brighter futures.
